Google Business Listing CallsThese Calls Are NOT from Google
Google Business Listing Calls
Raise your hand if you have received a robocall from a company posing as Google or representing Google…
While this scam has been around for a while, it’s still one of the most frequently asked questions I hear from my clients. Who are these people and why are they telling me that my business listing is going to be marked permanently closed?
The answer to the first question is that whoever they are, they are NOT Google. The answer to the second question is this is a scam designed to separate you from your cash by using a fear tactic.
The best thing you can do is hang up. Don’t press any buttons, even the ones that say you don’t want to receive any more calls.
These types of robocalls calls are illegal under U.S. law (unless you have given permission to receive them), and Google is never behind them. You can learn more about how to prevent and report these calls here.
Google Business listings are free to set up and manage. If you need help managing and posting on your social media accounts, Two Moons Consulting offers reasonable rates to help you manage your social media advertising and branding. If someone claims you have to pay them to prevent your business listing from being shut down, they are not only lying to you, they are breaking the law.
Business owners have plenty of challenges on their plates, but you can avoid unnecessary stress (and costs) by ignoring these calls. Also, calling them out as scam artists doesn’t work either. They just hang up on you. Yes, I get these calls too 😉
Any questions? I am always happy to help.
